Progressive Kickboxing was founded in 1990. The idea was to teach Quality Martial Arts to men and women in a safe, ethical and structured manner. Progressive Kickboxing is a blend of Boxing and Muay Thai Techniques with the emphasis on Self Defence and Self Improvement, although competition training is available. Our Kickboxing classes were one of the first in Perth with a black belt grading program.
There are nine levels in Progressive Kickboxing. White, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Brown and Black Belt level. White and Yellow Belts are considered Beginners. Orange and Green are Intermediate levels. Blue Belts and above are Advanced Levels. Gradings are held every 3 months and students grade according to their technical ability,attitude and fitness level. With regular training and the right attitude a student can achieve the Black Belt rank in approximately 3-4 years.
The classes in Progressive Kickboxing are geared for men and women who want to learn Self Defence, get fit and achieve an improved lifestyle.
A typical class will start with warm-up exercises like skipping, running on the spot etc. followed by some Shadow Boxing. Shadow Boxing is a great tool to develop our body mechanics, footwork, defensive cover and attacking combinations.
Afterwards students pair up for partnerdrills to improve their co-ordination, target awareness and timing. This is followed by punching and kicking drills on pads or bags and we finish with some conditioning and a stretch.
Classes are run in a friendly and positive atmosphere with strong emphasis on self discipline and respect.
